Response to Hi Ken, Normally a 1.5 HP would be the properly sized pump for a 26,000-gallon pool, however, there are other factors to consider like if your pump will also be powering spa jets, water features or solar. Any of those factors may require you go with a larger pump. You will also want to make sure your filter can handle the output of the pump. On your filter there should be a GPM rating and this pump will output roughly 60 GPM under normal plumbing condtions, so you will want to make sure your filter can handle at least 60 GPM.
