Response to First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 12 mil thick while the blue is 8 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better.  The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water.  Lastly, the clear blanket has a 5 year warranty as opposed to the 3 year warranty for the blue.
