Response to Hello Don- No, it is recommended that you stay with the A.O. Smith Round Flange 2 HP Full Rate Motor - ST1202. The ST1202 is a full rated motor and has a total HP of 2.6. The A.O. Smith 2 H.P Round Flange Up Rate Replacement Motor - UST1202 is uprated and only has a total HP of 2.2. The St1202 is a stronger motor and if the appropriate parts aren't changed when going down to the UST1202, i.e. impeller and diffuser (if needed), then the motor will fail prematurely.
